(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) French government decides to extend health emergency until July 24

China News Agency, Paris, May 2 (Reporter Li Yang) In order to prevent a new outbreak of new pneumonia, the French government decided on May 2 local time to extend the state of health emergency to July 24.

French Health Minister Vilan announced the above decision on behalf of the government that day. He said that the government has also submitted relevant bills to the parliament, and the French National Assembly (lower house of parliament) and the Senate will consider it next week and take effect after a vote.

France officially entered a state of public health emergency on March 24. It was originally scheduled for two months and will expire on May 23. Wiran pointed out that it was “too early” to lift the state of health emergency on May 23. He said that if the ongoing measures are suddenly interrupted, the epidemic is in danger of recurring. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to extend the state of health emergency for two months on the original basis.

The important content of the new law on prolonging the state of health emergency submitted by the French government includes: people entering France from foreign countries will be required to take quarantine measures, and specific details will be announced in the future; the health department will track people infected with new crown virus and contacts .

Vilan explained that the health department's data collection on people infected with the new coronavirus aims to identify the virus infection chain and determine the high-risk areas for virus transmission. Relevant data will not be used in mobile applications that track infected people.

French Minister of the Interior Castane said on the same day that passengers must wear masks in public transportation in France after "unblocking", otherwise they will face penalties. In addition to the police and the gendarmerie, public transport security personnel are also empowered to maintain relevant measures.

Castane also stated that if the conditions are permitted after the “unblocking”, the public will not need proof documents, and the government will not restrict cross-provincial travel within France, but travel is limited to within 100 kilometers of the residence; the European Union Member States are still unable to achieve free movement of people.

The number of deaths from French new coronary pneumonia rose to 24,760 on the 2nd, and there were 166 new deaths on a single day. French inpatients and critically ill patients slowed down to 25827 and 3827 respectively. 6,084 people died in the Paris region, where the French epidemic was the worst. (Finish)
