The Ministry of Education is conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the application of the distance learning system for public and private schools at the state level, during the months of May and June, based on the recommendations of the Education and Human Resources Council. The move comes in the framework of educational efforts aimed at monitoring the performance of schools and ensuring the effectiveness of their implementation of distance learning plans.

The standards include three main axes, focusing on teaching and learning processes, positive student development, the role of the school and school leadership in managing distance learning processes and distance education resources, to ensure students have access to beneficial and appropriate educational opportunities.

The evaluation will be applied to public and private schools in the country through coordination with educational agencies through the use of available online platforms. According to the evaluation, the schools will be classified according to the effectiveness of their application of the distance learning system, the extent of students' benefit, and the readiness of teachers.

The views of the students ’relatives will also be taken into consideration during the evaluation process, and all parties will work to communicate with schools, send criteria and hold meetings to ensure their readiness for evaluation.

The Minister of State for General Education Affairs, Jamila Al-Muhairi, stressed that improving the quality of the distance learning system, and the continuous improvement in its standards and tools and the ability of schools to respond quickly and deal with them in the best way, constitute a real, sustainable and important investment in education.

She explained that "the evaluation contributes to the educational decision-makers standing on the strengths and weaknesses, and thus work to improve in the future, to ensure the efficiency of this system and the sustainability of learning."

The evaluation is characterized by its design and adoption of standards according to international educational comparisons and practices that focused on the sustainability of education in times of crisis, and in future and strategic planning, supporting mental health of students, families and teachers, and ensuring safety and a sense of continuity.

The main assessment processes vary to include three areas: the first of which is teaching and monitoring student learning, and includes planning and delivery, sharing desired learning outcomes, a distance learning program, and monitoring and evaluation of learning.

The second area of evaluation processes is the positive formation of students, their distance learning, their happiness, their attendance and interaction, and the diversity of learning opportunities presented to them.

The third area is leadership of student learning and management through speed in performance, emergency, communication and participation, and resource management.

Jamila Al-Muhairi:
