The Government of Dubai's Human Resources Department announced that 82 government entities in the emirate have implemented a 100% remote work system for their employees, as part of the precautionary measures taken to prevent the emerging corona virus (Covid 19).

The percentage of employees working from home among government employees in Dubai exceeded 80% of all non-field government employees.

The Director General of the Department, Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, stressed that “the employees of government agencies in Dubai were on the level of responsibility, and they were regular in the work and presented all the requirements, such as the obligation to record reports on productivity and the work done continuously, according to the policy followed in each department or institution, While maintaining adherence to the rules of public taste while attending remote meetings ».

He added that «Dubai has proven its worth in the remote work system, and ranked second globally in the list (the best cities of the world for remote work in 2020), issued by the American magazine CEOWORLD, which conducted a study on the best cities in the world in remote work jobs, including Working from home, this year, according to the study, Dubai ranked second after the city of San Francisco, and this puts everyone in front of a great challenge to maintain this position, and make efforts to excel in the future and reach the first rank ».

The department formed a committee to follow up the implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, coordination and follow-up with government agencies, and to ensure commitment to implementing the directives, and provide advice and assistance to government agencies on the implementation of the work remotely.

It also provided, during the three phases of the application of remote work, the necessary support to government departments, and worked to overcome the obstacles facing them, answer legal inquiries, provide technical support, and provide administrative consulting, in addition to continuing to spread awareness through various means with the most important guidelines on the best application of work Remotely.

The government agencies in Dubai presented several initiatives, the most prominent of which are: developing and publishing employees ’policies, procedures and guide to work remotely, including clarifying the obligations of the direct manager and employee, and providing the necessary electronic devices and programs and means of communication for the employee to be able to work remotely, such as portable computers , VPN, and assign a hotline to answer employee inquiries.

In the context of its follow-up to government agencies and to identify the initiatives and programs that it launched, the department distributed two questionnaires to identify the commitment of employees to the precautionary measures and guidelines launched by the competent authorities to prevent and limit the spread of the new Corona virus, in addition to the percentage of achievement of the remote work system in each department, and what has been done on land The reality since the implementation of the directives began on March 15, and the monitoring of programs and initiatives implemented by each party.
