According to recent estimates, the number of patients with a new coronavirus infection in Moscow is about 2% of the total population of the city. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, citing data from screening studies.

Thus, if we proceed from this figure, then with a population of 12.7 million people (data from Rosstat at the beginning of 2020) in Moscow, there are about 254 thousand patients with COVID-19. According to the data of the operational headquarters to combat the spread of a new type of coronavirus infection, as of May 2, 2020, more than 62.6 thousand cases of the disease were detected in the city. Often it is asymptomatic.

“According to the results of screening studies of various population groups, the actual number of cases is about 2% of the total number of residents of Moscow,” Sobyanin said.

He stressed that Moscow recorded the minimum values among world cities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic: “We were able to contain the spread of infection thanks to discipline and support for self-isolation measures from Muscovites.”

According to the mayor, thanks to the active work of Rospotrebnadzor, it was possible to expand the capabilities for testing for coronavirus infection.

“This allowed us to increase the number of laboratory tests by five times compared to the previous month. And from April 30, we increased the laboratory testing two more times - up to 40 thousand PCR tests per day, ”the mayor stated.

He added that the capacity of reference centers for rechecking the tests carried out doubled, which made it possible to quickly analyze and confirm the data accumulated for previous days. Along with this, the mayor noted, the volume of rapid antibody tests increased tenfold in a week.

“We managed to almost double the detection rate of infection. By this indicator, Moscow has become a world leader. And this is a huge plus, because it allows you to stop the spread of infection in the early stages and provide timely assistance to the affected Muscovites, ”said the mayor.

At the same time, Sobyanin emphasized that the threat is growing so far, and urged Muscovites to take maximum responsibility for self-isolation measures.

The mayor also said that all funds received from fines for violation of restrictions in force in the capital will be used for medical purposes. The mayor said this on the television channel "Russia 24".

“All funds from fines not only automatic, but in general from any fines that will go to the city budget, they will all be targeted for the purchase of medicines to fight coronavirus, for medicine, nowhere else, only there,” said the mayor .

According to the latest data, in Russia, the total number of cases of coronavirus infection with COVID-19 has reached 124 054. The disease has been detected in all regions of the country. Over the past 24 hours, 9623 new cases of the disease were detected in the country, more than half of them in Moscow (5358). The day before, 7933 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Russia. A day earlier - about 7 thousand new cases of COVID-19.

Rospotrebnadzor about the increase in incidence

Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova commented on the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus infection with COVID-19 over the past two days in Russia.

“Both yesterday and today we see such a“ tine ”, as analysts say, against the background of a fairly even situation for more than seven days,” Popova said on the air of Komsomolskaya Pravda radio.

She noted that "even within the framework of this" wave, "almost half of all detected cases of COVID-19. - RT infection are people who are asymptomatic." According to Popova, "the maximum growth rate falls on a number of entities that shape the situation."

“This, of course, is Moscow, but this is Novosibirsk, this is North Ossetia-Alania. These are other regions where we are observing the realization of the risks that we talked about ten days ago, ”added the head of Rospotrebnadzor.

Popova also appreciated the decision of several Russian regions to introduce a mask regime. Over the past day, appropriate measures were taken by the leadership of the Moscow region, Transbaikalia and the Rostov region. According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor, this is the right step.

“I absolutely support them, they are doing it right. Because if we go beyond the boundaries of our native home, which today is the only fortress for us, then we need to do this in such a way as not to harm ourselves, or those around us, or those who are waiting for us at home, ”Popova said.

The head of the Rospotrebnadzor also said that the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, who has become infected with the coronavirus, is always in touch: “He is always in accessible mode, he is always in contact. And we always count on his confident voice. ”

She wished Mishustin a speedy recovery, noting that his activity and participation are extremely important for the country. Recall, the head of the Cabinet announced his illness on April 30 during a meeting with Vladimir Putin in a video conference format.

Note that the day after Mishustin’s speech, it became known that the coronavirus was detected by the head of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Russia Vladimir Yakushev and his deputy Dmitry Volkov. The minister said that he would undergo treatment under the supervision of doctors in one of the city hospitals.
