Small event in Washington: the briefing of the White House spokesperson returns.

Breaking with a tradition firmly established for decades, the Trump presidency had abandoned for more than a year this ritual with the "press secretary".

Kayleigh McEnany, 31, who has held this prestigious position since mid-April, seems determined to print her brand and her style: she will speak from the podium on Friday at 2 p.m. (6 p.m. GMT).

However, at this stage it is impossible to say whether this briefing will become daily again.

The world's most famous newsroom has 49 seats, but only 14 of them will be occupied by journalists due to the social distancing linked to the coronavirus.

After having spoken for several weeks from this room during the daily update of the coronavirus crisis cell, Donald Trump now prefers to speak from the Oval Office or at ceremonies organized in the salons of the House White.

A graduate of prestigious Georgetown and Harvard universities, Kayleigh McEnany was a commentator on Fox and CNN before becoming spokesperson for Donald Trump's 2020 campaign.

Stephanie Grisham, who held the position before her, never participated in a single briefing. If she was absent from the famous press room, she was sometimes very incisive, even aggressive, on Twitter or on Fox News.

His two predecessors, Sarah Sanders and Sean Spicer, were much more present on the podium.
