The Valencian Observatory Against LGTBIFobia has condemned the transphobic attacks carried out by a local police patrol in Alicante against a trans person.

In a video broadcast by the Observatory and recorded by the patrol itself, you can see how one of the policemen of a patrol addresses a trans person who is on the sidewalk from the car saying "by day you are even uglier" and asking him "What are you doing now that you can't pull cocks or steal, how do you live?" The scene was recorded by the other police from inside the car.

The observatory demands the cessation of the two agents, "both the one who attacks and the one who records." The "degrading treatment" of both municipal police officers "obliges us to demand that the prosecution open the procedures that are necessary to condemn this transphobic aggression and the agents that cause it," the Observatory reported in a statement.

This group denounces that since the confinement by the coronavirus began, they have detected that LGBT-phobic aggressions "have increased in family environments", but what "we could not imagine" is that the State Security Forces, with a single and centralized command at this moment in the Interior Ministry, guarantors of citizen security during this exceptional period, were going to be the ones that "perpetuated hate speech". We seem to have to protect ourselves from those who have to protect us, "they say.

The Observatory assures that it will bring the facts to the attention of the Prosecutor's Office so that it can open as many proceedings as necessary so that both agents are identified and dismissed from their jobs as police officers, as well as being convicted of a hate crime.
