Renforsen's treatment center in Vindeln is one of eleven LVM homes in Sweden. They receive people who have serious substance abuse problems and have previously had problems with escapes among clients. This is something that the staff at Renforsen has worked hard with in recent years and currently the home in Vindeln has had the most escapes of all LVM homes throughout Sweden.

Maria Skoglund is the director of operations for SIS substance abuse treatment and the person leading the investigation. She says the staff at Renforsen has done a fantastic job in recent years in minimizing the number of escapes

"They have worked structured, carefully and followed up on this and they have shown an improvement potential that is very fun to see."

However, Maria Skoglund believes that there are problems with the premises at Renforsen and that it has been difficult to find staff with the right skills for the operations there.

Can't take into account geography

Maria Skoglund can understand the criticism directed at SIS regarding the investigation as it is the only operation in Norrland. But she believes that care must go first and that geography cannot be taken into account.

“We also conduct operations from Lund in the South to Hedemora in Dalarna and that is a fairly large geographical spread. Then it is clear that the geographical spread to Vindeln is even greater. "

Maria Skoglund points out that it is the opportunity to conduct future operations at Renforsen that should be investigated and that it is with the best interests of the clients in mind. The investigation is expected to be completed in June.
