No flights that go and tougher border checks, due to Covid 19, do not allow the foreign workforce to travel to Sweden in the same way as before to work in agriculture, gardens and with growers.

- The problems we saw a month ago have not improved. Many previously came here from, for example, Poland, Ukraine and Serbia with low-cost flights that no longer run. This, together with tough border controls, makes the situation even worse, says Jeanette Blackert, chairman of LRF Östergötland.

No high status

Getting Swedish labor into the green industry is very difficult according to LRF.

- Unfortunately, our industry does not have a high status among Swedes and Swedish youth. This has meant that the availability of foreign employees is absolutely crucial, especially for the harvest, says LRF's chairman in Östergötland Jeanette Blackert.

Chartrat flights

Farmers and growers are now looking for new ways to get foreign workers here.

- Some growers go and pick up people by car. Maybe we have to do the same as in Finland and Germany where charters are flying that take foreign workers here, says Jeanette Blackert, chairman of LRF in Östergötland.
