Very proud, doctor Christian Chenay, almost a hundred years old, tells the microphone of Europe 1 about his meeting with Emmmanuel Macron at the Élysée on Friday. With, of course, a meter away, but without masks.

Coronavirus and containment: for the unions, the French and Emmanuel Macron, this May 1 was truly atypical. Atypical, the guest of the Head of State at the Élysée Palace on Friday was also. Christian Chenay, the oldest doctor in France, aged 99, tells Europe 1 about his special, somewhat privileged, visit to the presidential palace.

"Several epidemics of cholera typhus"

"It is exceptional to be able to discuss a meter away, without mask, with him", laughs again the one who was born in 1921 and who started to exercise in 1951. "I participated in several epidemics of typhus and cholera, "he said.

"The President was surprised that at my age I continued, but hey, I have good health", continues Christian Chenay, who still consults in Val-de-Marne.

"We must not refuse contacts, especially with the President! He is someone very friendly, his wife too. Visiting the Elysee as a guest, like that, is quite rare. Being able to walk everywhere, in a small group, led by the President and his wife ... It is quite exceptional. "
