  • Bordeaux Métropole presented its plan to take over the TBM network. More than 70% of traffic will be provided on May 11.
  • Wearing a mask could be compulsory from the resort. Stickers will be stuck on the ground in places to enforce physical distance.
  • Free public transport will be maintained in May.

Bordeaux Métropole presented this Thursday afternoon its recovery plan for the TBM network. Christophe Duprat, vice-president in charge of transport, announced that “more than 70% of traffic will be provided” from Monday May 11 from 5 am to 10:30 pm 64 tram lines and 260 buses will run in the first two weeks with frequencies of 7'30 and 15-20 minutes respectively. According to the plan, 85% of traffic will be provided from May 25 and 90% from June 14 with frequencies closer and closer over time.

Regarding the protection of travelers, Bordeaux Métropole will ask the municipalities to issue orders to make it mandatory to wear a mask from the station and not only in transport. Nearly 150 people will be deployed to the stations to regulate the flows and a team will also be on hand to clean the trains very regularly in addition to more conventional cleaning.

Free will be maintained in May

"There will also be stickers on the ground at the busiest stations and in the trains to make social distancing as much as possible respected," explains Christophe Duprat. The chosen one also thinks about the installation of hydroalcoholic gel terminal especially in the trains to avoid vandalism but reminds that the mask is already a good protection. Mask dispensers could also be installed in the medium term.

In buses, there will be a traffic direction to respect for the ascent (front) and the descent (rear). The metropolitan relay parks will all be open from May 11 and the VCub network will operate at 100%. As for the month of April, Bordeaux Métropole will maintain free access to the TBM network in May. Finally, the bicycle should also take a new place in the city. A traffic plan should be presented next Wednesday but the president of the city has already hinted that a lane on the boulevards should be reserved for cyclists and public transport.
