April 30, 2020 The processing of the Immuni app's collected data will be the responsibility of the Ministry of Health and the information collected will be deleted by December 14, 2020.

The Minister for Technological Innovation and Digitization, Paola Pisano, said during the hearing to the Constitutional Affairs Committee by videoconference of the Chamber, specifying: "The method of tracking contacts is complementary to that already used by the national health system". Users who decide to download the Immuni app "will receive clear information on the purpose of the tracking" and "the management of the platform will be public".

Paola Pisano also said that the Minister of Health, responsible for the processing of the data collected, ensured in agreement with the Privacy Guarantor that users will receive all information on the data processed before activation. The minister explained that "Italy will protect privacy or the Apple-Google model with a unique app at national and European level".

"The data collected will be exclusively those necessary to identify the contacts made between the user with other users that were then positive. They will only be proximity data and the geolocation of users is excluded in any case". The minister then assured that "the data will also be stored in users' mobile devices for a period established by the Ministry of Health and deleted immediately afterwards".

Voluntary uninstallation, call center assistance
It will be possible to uninstall the Immuni app and related data even before the end of the year deadline, clarified the Minister for Innovation. Pisano also explained that there will be call centers to help citizens use the application. The minister assured that "it will be known to be positive only with messages that come from the application", out of respect for privacy.

A communication campaign is planned "to change habits on both standard and social channels. In addition, there is also a first level call center to help users who have difficulties with the application and a call center to help users who find themselves positive at coronavirus ".
