Palestinian entrances, streets, and squares are usually decorated with luminous ropes, people, and lanterns, but the picture this year is different, as major cities in the occupied West Bank seemed without any appearances to receive the month of fasting that the Palestinians received this year in an unusual atmosphere, in light of the spread of Corona virus.

In Ramallah, where the Authority and the Prime Minister are located, the streets and squares appeared without "Ramadan decorations." The municipality was satisfied with installing the Ramadan lantern near the Yasser Arafat Square in the city center.

The director of information in the municipality, Maram Totah, refers this situation to the conditions in the Palestinian territories due to the outbreak of the virus, and the inability of the municipality's staff to operate, in implementation of the government's decision.

Totah adds to Anatolia that the municipality will implement symbolic alternative measures to celebrate Ramadan.

She continued, "For years, Ramallah was decorated to celebrate Ramadan, but this year was different."

The adjacent city of Al-Bireh also decided to dispense with decorating the city this year - according to Nasser Eid, its media official - who said, "The Al-Bireh Municipality decided to allocate a budget to support families affected by the Corona outbreak, instead of decorating the city for the month of Ramadan."

Eid added, "Ramadan decorations have an important impact, and they have become a part linked to the month of fasting, but the current circumstances prevent this."

The same situation applies to most of the municipalities of the West Bank - according to the Anatolia correspondent - in light of the virus that caused the isolation of a number of towns completely from their surroundings, after recording injuries among its residents.

The government decided last Monday to continue to ban any manifestations of gathering, to close places of worship, and to facilitate facilities in movement and the economy 45 days after the start of the crisis.

Home Decorations The
festive atmosphere of the month of fasting has largely been limited this year to home decorating with lanterns, lanterns and luminous ropes, according to Anatolia correspondent.

"This year is bleak, because it is free from the ceremonial atmosphere of the month of fasting, the streets are without decoration, and the mosques are closed," Ahmed Ayad (a resident of Al-Bireh) told Anatolia.

"We can create our own atmosphere in our homes for the month of fasting," he added, after decorating the garden of his home with the family.

For his part, Jalal Ammar says, "Our children have always celebrated the decoration of Ramadan in gardens and fields. This year everything changed, even the mass breakfast was canceled, and only Ramadan decorations were left at home, we try to find an atmosphere of joy a bit."

Jalal Al-Shaarawi, 25, a seller of lanterns and lanterns in the old city of Hebron, tells Anatolia, "At this time of every year, people accept to buy luminous ropes, lanterns and family, but this year it is completely different."

He adds, "Ramadan lighting gives splendor, air, and joy ... God helped people with this scourge."

He concludes by saying, "Every year we prepare large quantities of goods for the month of Ramadan, but the turnout this year is very low compared to previous years."
