Dubai police said that Indian businessman Joy Arkal committed suicide by throwing himself from the 14th floor of a tower in the "Business Bay" area in the Emirati city a week ago, and his body is expected to be transferred to his hometown in Kerala, southern India.

Last Thursday, the Dubai authorities announced the death of Arkal, 54, who is one of the richest Indian businessmen in Dubai, after he fell from the balcony of a tower. Yesterday, the director of the Bar Dubai Police Center, Brigadier Abdullah Khadim bin Surur told Emirati media that Arkal died from suicide due to depression caused by financial problems, and the security official added that the incident had no criminal suspicions.

According to the statements of the director of the Bur Dubai Police Station, the late was accompanied by his friend and son when he went out to his office balcony to smoke, then threw himself from the balcony, so his family called the police to tell them what happened.

A special trip
The officials of the Indian consulate in the Emirates stated that a special trip will transfer the body of Arkal to India after obtaining the approval of the Indian and Emirati authorities, and the body will be accompanied by his wife and children.

Arkal owns the company "INOVA" specialized in refining oil and trading in its derivatives. It owns a number of refineries in the emirates of Sharjah, Ras Al-Khaimah and the Dammam region in eastern Saudi Arabia.

Last year, the UAE authorities granted the Indian businessman a ten-year golden residence visa, which is for foreign investors.

Emirati and Indian media reported that the deceased owns a chain of hotels in the Indian district of Kerala, and he became famous in his hometown after he built in 2018 a spacious palace of 45 thousand square meters, to become one of the largest residential buildings in the region.
