April 30, 2020 Passes the Senate with 161 votes in favor, 112 against and an abstained majority resolution filed by M5s, Pd, Leu and Iv on Def. Oppositions have expressed themselves in the opposite way.

Def 2020 shows the analysis of the Italian macroeconomic framework for the year 2019 and the trend forecasts for the current year and for 2021, which reflect the signs of full impact of the shock represented by Covid-19 on the Italian economy.

In the Def, an 8% drop in GDP is expected for this year, while for 2021 a recovery of real GDP of +4.7% is expected. Among the new features announced is the deactivation, starting from 2021, of the safeguard clauses which provide for the increase in VAT and excise duties. The presentation of the Pnr, the national reform program, has been postponed.
