“The government will continue to work as usual”: a coronavirus was found in Mishustin

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, during a video conference with President Vladimir Putin, reported that he contracted a coronavirus infection COVID-19. The head of government added that he was leaving for self-isolation.

“Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, it just became known that the tests that I passed for coronavirus gave a positive result. In this regard, and in accordance with the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor, I must accordingly comply with self-isolation, comply with the instructions of doctors. This must be done to protect my colleagues, ”said Mishustin.

The head of government also appealed to the Russians, asking him to take the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection as seriously as possible.

“Ahead of the May holidays, I ask all of you to stay home and abide by all the necessary restrictions,” Mishustin emphasized.

At the same time, he proposed to appoint his deputy Andrei Belousov as interim prime minister.

“The government will continue to work normally, I plan to be in active contact by telephone and video on all major issues,” the prime minister added.

Vladimir Putin approved Belousov's candidacy for the post of acting premiere. The corresponding decree is published on the Kremlin website. According to the document, this measure was adopted "in order to ensure the continuous functioning of public authorities."

“I hope that you will remain in the same good working form and will take an active part in the development of the decisions that we spoke about at the meeting today, to support citizens, to support the economy as a whole and its individual sectors, especially affected recently in connection with this coronavirus - you will not only take part in the development of these decisions. And I want to tell you: without your opinion, without your participation, these final decisions will not be taken, ”Putin turned to Mishustin and wished him a speedy recovery.

Later, the press secretary of the head of government, Boris Belyakov, explained that the prime minister had limited his face-to-face communication a few weeks ago. According to him, those who still contacted Mishustin will be isolated and tested for the disease in the near future.

“Mikhail Vladimirovich will be in one of the medical institutions. Under the supervision of doctors, ”added Belyakov.

According to data from April 30, in Russia, the total number of cases of coronavirus infection with COVID-19 is 106,498. At the same time, 11,619 patients recovered and were discharged. It is also known that 1,073 people have already died from complications arising from COVID-19 and concomitant diseases.

In Russia, the regime of non-working days is in effect until May 11, and by May 5, the government should prepare a new package of measures to support the economy and citizens, as well as a “large-scale, nationwide action plan to normalize business life, to restore employment, incomes and economic growth.” As the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov pointed out, a phased exit from the regime of self-isolation should begin on May 12.

“Putin has already voiced his attitude. He said that he understood that he no longer had the strength to tolerate this self-isolation, but, on the other hand, he urged everyone to all come together and sit in this regime for the rest of the week, the remaining days before being accepted decisions on a phased exit, ”he said.

At the same time, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, on the Russia 24 television channel, admitted that the city could reach a peak in incidence of COVID-19, and then it will decline.
