The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment announced the end of the period of permitting for fishing of surface fish by barber fishing (hedging) today, and until next October 30, adding that the grace period began on the first of November until April 30, according to Ministerial Resolution No. (468) of 2019 regarding the regulation of fishing Superficial fish by netting the barber method (hedging).

The Ministry stated that the decision comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to organize fishing seasons and align them with timelines that are appropriate to the fishing methods in force in the country, and to provide the opportunity for fishermen to benefit from their practice of fishing craft, taking into account considerations to protect the marine environment and the sustainability of fish stocks, to ensure work in the fishing craft And its access to future generations, and the methods of fishing for the surface fish in the country vary and their abundance and locations of their gatherings vary according to the seasons throughout the seasons of the year, and they are hunted in various ways, including barber nets, thread and hooks with picnic or mandarin, as well as pressure, steady positions and Hazor in the event of the presence of these fish in coastal areas.

According to the biological studies conducted by the Ministry of Marine Environment Research Center affiliated with the Ministry, the breeding season for surface fish, including cannabis fish, is from March to June, domes from May to July, ribs from April to July, and elmans from March to May and grandfather fish in two periods The first from May to July and the second in November, which requires continued efforts to reduce fishing effort on species, including surface species, especially in their breeding seasons to ensure the sustainability of their stocks, and not be affected in the future, and the beneficiaries' fishermen working in various fishing methods permitted by thieves D these species.

According to the decision, the fishermen licensed by the Ministry and whose boats were registered in the General Register in the Ministry under the type (cruiser) of surface fish fishing, are allowed to use nets in the barber method (hedging), and the decision specifies in its second article the period of allowing fishing for surface fish in this way during the period between the first of November through April 30 the following year.

The decision articles set the technical specifications for the nets allowed to be used during the grace period from the beginning of November to the end of April. He also specified the areas where nets are allowed to be used with nets.

The decision prohibited the use of nets made of nylon material, or single, bilateral, triple or multi-fringe nets in one thread and multi-layer nylon nets during the grace period.

During the prohibition of fishing for shallow fish using the net by barber, fishers are allowed to move to alternative fishing methods such as rattles, pressures, floss and hooks without having to change the method in the fishing boat's license card.

Damaged nets

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment prohibits throwing damaged nets and spoiled fish at sea or on the beach, obliging fishermen to dispose of them in the places designated for that, as well as installing and carrying more than one marine crane (winch) on fishing boats licensed to fish by nets, and prohibiting the closure of nets From below while fishing for superficially barber (hedging) fish.
