On Sunday, a man with an ambulance flight at Sturup was picked up and flown to Turkey. This after he was found to have coronary infection, but was denied care in Sweden, according to the family.

"They didn't think it was so serious that he could cure himself at home," says Leyla, daughter of the man.

After the father did not receive hospital care in Lund, the family, who is of Turkish origin, decided to seek help from Turkey via social media.

- My sister wrote on Twitter about what we have experienced. Then we had to film and talk about what had happened, says Leyla.

The family's appeal received response from Turkish authorities, who picked up the man on Sunday.

- We were shocked but glad it went so fast, says Leyla.

Region Skåne does not comment on the incident

With reference to patient confidentiality, Region Skåne does not want to make a specific statement about the case, but believes that the care makes medical assessments for each person.

- It is on a case-by-case basis that the need for care is assessed. The majority of cases of covid-19 in Skåne are taken care of at home, says Region Skåne's press spokesman Jimmy Gottfridsson.
