Any political change in Libya must be done through a democratic process and not military,  " reacted Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesman for the United Nations. According to him, the Skhirat agreement remains "  the only framework recognized by the international community for a solution  ".

Same statement on the part of the acting UN representative in Libya . Stéphanie Williams assured Prime Minister Fayez el-Sarraj, by telephone, that the political agreement and the institutions which result from it remain always "  the only framework for a solution  ".

These UN positions have been shared by the European Union, as well as by France, Germany and Italy. All denounce unilateralism and call for political dialogue and a truce under the aegis of the United Nations.

Changes in political institutions cannot be done unilaterally,  " said a statement from the US Embassy in Libya. They express their regrets after what they call "  the proposal of Khalifa Haftar  ".

Russian surprise

Russia said it was surprised by these declarations that it "  does not support  ", specifies Sergei Lavrov, the Minister for Foreign Affairs. The Kremlin spokesperson reminds him that the only solution remains political dialogue.

For Ankara, heavily involved in Libya, this exit from the Libyan marshal is "  a coup  " which will not prevent him from continuing to support the government of national unity.

Finally Egypt says it clings to the political solution, but insists on the need to put an end to the militias and to fight "  against the extremist and terrorist currents in Libya  " supported, according to her, "  by Turkey  ".
