“Now a bill has been submitted to the government that, I dare to assure you, will radically change the situation with illegal logging,” Anoprienko said.

He expressed the hope that the bill will be adopted in 2020 and will enter into force on January 1 of next year.

The head of the Federal Forestry Agency said that the bill provides for the introduction of an electronic accompanying document.

“Under the new law, an electronic accompanying document will appear both at the allotment site, at the master of the forest, and at the storage location, and on delivery vehicles. That is, there will be end-to-end accounting of the whole process of timber harvesting, ”Anoprienko said.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported tougher penalties for people who set fires to hide illegal logging.
