Have you ever tried to describe the colors of a blind person, and tell him that green is the color of grass, that blue is the color of the sea and the sky, and that the sun is golden? But how do you do it if this person has not seen these elements of nature and knows only darkness?

In fact, if some people have lost their sense of sight, there are still other senses that help in understanding and perceiving colors, as many colors are related to scents, tastes, sounds, and even feelings, and therefore it does not depend on the sense of sight for the blind to understand the meaning of a particular color, but rather insight.

Insight as a non-material sensation depends on spirit and feelings. If you are going to describe colors, art or beauty to a blind person, rely on senses other than eyesight to help him identify colors. For example, the senses of touch, smell, and even hearing can nourish the feeling of the blind in color, and they perceive it with insight.

Color perception
For example, literary critic Rachel Sugar, in her article on "Blindness Perception", sees that brown color may be known through the sense of touch, by helping the blind to touch the bark of trees or their leaves and even dead plants, and sense the structure of these elements and feel the dependency of what It is brown.

The same applies to the color red, if the blind person has experienced any burning during his life, explain to him that the feeling of this burning is the heat of the red color, and that everything that is called fire and feel if approached with warmth and heat, this is the feeling of red color.

As for green, help him sense the idea that green is the flow of life. Leaves of trees and plants when they are soft and soft, this feels like green. But when the leaves are crunchy and dry, they turn brown.

As for the blue color, see the researcher in psychology, Brianna Stewart from the University of Chicago, that this color is the easiest color that can be described to a blind person, because it can be felt in the case of mental clarity and relaxation, and in the cold water liquid on the hands, and in the sound and smell of the sea, and in the breeze The cold that flirters our faces at the beginning of every morning, and even in a cup of cold water when we feel thirsty.

Also, dark blue is the color of depression, sadness and the desire to cry.

Yellow color can be described as the smell of blankets and fabrics if placed in the sun for a while. The smell of the sun when the bedspreads or clothes smell is yellow and orange. Also, the pleasant warmth that we feel when sitting in the non-blazing sun is yellow or orange.

What if fiction missed?
Thus, we can describe the colors of a blind person by losing the sense of sight by relying on other senses to perceive the components of the environment and sense the color from the feel and smell to the sound of each component of them.

But what if this blind person, even by touching, smelling and hearing, cannot imagine what color is? In this case, feelings can be used entirely to help the blind understand and sense the colors.

In a research paper entitled "The Relationship between Color and Emotion", Dr. Naz Kaya of the College of Family Sciences at the University of Georgia explains that colors are often associated with mental or emotional states.

It can help the blind person to sense a color by attaching each color to a specific feeling, as the colors are full of symbolism.

Warm colors, like red, settle in mind as the color of rage, fighting and contention with anyone. As for orange, it is a feeling of physical comfort as a result of getting enough food, drink, safety and warmth, while yellow is a feeling of confidence and victory.

The green color - according to the same study - is the feeling of refreshment that we feel after drinking iced mint drinks and ice cream.

Blue is the feeling of coldness, calmness and relaxation, while purple is the feeling we feel in the midst of dreams.

Accordingly, white is the color of peace and hygiene, and black is the feeling of injustice, death and tragic events, and dark is the feeling of depression and the desire to cry.
