Due to the corona virus, the student celebration has been canceled at all municipal upper secondary schools in Stockholm County. How schools organize mouse-taking is up to each individual principal.

The solution at Blackeberg High School was to let the mice take on running bands for one afternoon - two classes at a time. On the ground, the caretakers had painted crosses so that the students could keep a meter distance.

- It was their absolute highest wish to have a mouse on the school yard. Regardless, we should have taken students in for the exam, says Principal Catrine Hedlund.

Gathered in clusters

The students were given clear instructions in advance, including not getting there if you had illness symptoms or were at risk. No relatives were allowed to participate in the mouse taking ceremony.

But after the ceremony ended, many students in large groups gathered a bit away from the school yard. Whether the initiative encourages students to meet and celebrate despite the authorities' recommendations cannot be controlled by the school, says Catrine Hedlund.
