When protesters gathered in Texas to protest the closure because of the corona, Del Bigtree was also there to talk to people. He has been called an "anti-vaccine celebrity" and accused of spreading myths and doubts about vaccine himself and through his organization ICAN, something he fancies himself.

He says that "anti-waxing" is a broad and derogatory concept aimed at dismissing opinions other than those dominant in the research world. And don't even claim to be vaccine.

"Someday they might do proper safety tests, or maybe there will be a disease that is so serious that I am willing to take the risk," says Bigtree himself in an interview with SVT's Foreign Office program.

Bigtree: Economic motives

Is the deadly corona virus such an infection that causes Bigtree to think about taking a vaccine? The answer to that question is no. Bigtree says he and his family do not belong to any risk group and therefore he would not take a vaccine.

He emphasizes that the focus should instead be on treating at-risk groups, and he himself claims that advocating general coronary vaccination is primarily about money.

- The pharmaceutical industry only makes a certain amount of money if they sell a product to 0.3 percent of the population. They would much rather make a product that the world's governments impose 99.7 percent, he says.

Rejects criticism

Last year, the World Health Organization listed doubts about vaccine as one of ten threats to global health, and Bigtree's views are in conflict with the vast majority of the research community. He also has no medical education himself, but nevertheless points out that he is right in the matter. And he dismisses criticism that he scares people with unscientific theories.

- Asking questions is not to be intimidated. To say that these issues cause fear or danger is scary, he says.

- It is scary to see the censorship around me in the world and sites like mine that question.

The Foreign Office will be sent on Wednesday at 22.15 in SVT2. You can also watch this week's program about corona and vaccine resistance here on SVT Play.
