The farmer Peter Falk in Lärbro is waiting for a message about whether the two asparagus pickers from the Czech Republic who usually work with him every year can come or not. In normal cases they would have already been in place. But travel restrictions and other obstacles as a result of the Corona epidemic have halted so far.

- They know exactly what to do, they don't need an introduction. The asparagus season is six to eight weeks. To teach someone new in the short time, well then the season is already over when you have really started to understand what is the matter with quality and sorting and so on. It would be easier if I could get them here, says Peter Falk.

Being unable to use competent staff is a concern, but a bigger problem for Peter Falk is being able to sell the asparagus that grows in the cultivation tunnels. Normally, restaurants buy a lot of the harvest. But demand from the hard-to-corona-affected restaurant industry has declined sharply.
