Thursday April 23, the criminal court of Rouen (Seine-Maritime) sentenced a young man of 22 years to four years in prison, including 12 months suspended, for throwing his best friend from a balcony located on the first floor of a building in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray. Alcohol and jealousy seem to be the cause of this gesture, reports Actu.fr .

An evening despite confinement

The incident occurred on the night of Thursday April 9 to Friday April 10, during an evening with friends to celebrate a reunion even though they were supposed to be confined to their homes. Around 3 am, a young woman alerted the emergency services after her companion was thrown from the balcony of an apartment, causing a fall of three to four meters. The victim allegedly struck the mailboxes with his head in the fall.

Faced with investigators, witnesses said that the perpetrator suspected his best friend of having had sex with his ex-partner, which he could not bear. "He had a fit of jealousy, made a film for himself," said one of them, explaining that the defendant "raised" his friend and "threw him into the void".

45 days of ITT

The victim, who was just chatting with the ex-partner in question, suffered multiple fractures and was prescribed 45 days of ITT. Her friend told the court that he "drank a large amount of alcohol" and was "impulsive". "I'm sorry, for me, my place is in prison now," he said in words relayed by Actu.fr.

He was sentenced to four years in prison, including twelve months suspended probation for two years, as well as an obligation to care.
