The Cultural Prize Committee's motivation states that: "Her voice has fascinated audiences all over the world and left an indelible musical imprint in Swedish music history."

Nina Persson is both singer, musician, songwriter and actor. Although she has worked abroad for several years, she has recently returned to Malmö, where she now resides.

A couple of years ago, she started the music group Citizens' Band, which is committed to strengthening democracy and inspiring young people to make their voices heard in politics.

- Nina Persson fulfills several of the criteria that the jury works on, among other things with a long-standing deed, lives and works in Malmö and is a good ambassador for the city in the world, says Carina Nilsson, chair of the city council.

The cultural prize consists of a figurine in silver designed by the nobleman Magnus G: son Liedholm and a price sum of SEK 80,000.
