- Patients who need help in the intensive care unit have increased from one individual to seven people in the past week, says Christian Romin Blomqvist, infectious disease physician in the Kronoberg Region.

17 people in hospital

Kronoberg currently has 284 cases of covid-19 detected. 17 people need care in hospitals, 7 of which are in the intensive care unit. The average age of those tested positive for the virus is 57 years and that with an overweight on women.

- It can be explained by the fact that many people we try work in healthcare where the proportion of women is large, says Christian Romin Blomqvist.

More tests

The fact that the covid-19 cases in Kronoberg are clearly increasing is also due to the region trying more than many other regions - to date approximately 2550 people. But according to Christian Romin Blomqvist, Kronoberg is only at the beginning of his infection curve.

- We plan to make it as difficult as other regions in the country. But we hope to be able to flatten our curve as much as possible, he says.
