“I regret the lack of trust that has already arisen between our countries, but I hope that the interests of the countries will turn out to be more valuable than narrow political ambitions and calculations,” TASS quoted the Georgian president as saying.

She noted that Saakashvili was convicted in absentia in Georgia, and his possible appointment to a high position in Ukraine is alarming.

According to her, this caused well-founded alarm and a sharp reaction from the Georgian authorities and society.

Earlier, Saakashvili said that Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky invited him to become deputy prime minister for reforms and engage in negotiations with the IMF. Tbilisi called this decision unacceptable.
