The current closure of the ten Formula 1 teams and their engine manufacturers (Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault and Honda), in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, is once again extended, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced on Tuesday.

Advance initially from August to March-April and extended from 14 to 21 days, this "truce" ("shutdown" in English), which usually only concerns teams, was then increased to 35 days, before d 'be extended again.

"From now on, all competitors must respect a closing period of 35 to 63 consecutive days during the months of March, April, May and / or June", it was specified in a press release.

"The closing period for engine manufacturers has been extended from 35 to 49 consecutive days" over the same period.

However, after 50 days of closure, the stables may ask the FIA ​​for authorization "to use the services of a maximum of 10 employees to work from home on long-term projects.

For engine manufacturers, this period is 36 days.

F1 announced on Monday, through a statement from its CEO Chase Carey, "to target" a start to the season in Austria on July 5, probably "without spectators", while the first GP, canceled in extremis because of the new coronavirus, would have had to take place in Australia in mid-March.
