After a first phase of deconfinement of the population on May 11, a second stage will open from June 2, and this for three weeks. At the end of May, Édouard Philippe will notably address the issue of cafes, restaurants and holidays.

During his speech at the National Assembly, Tuesday afternoon, Édouard Philippe announced that after a first phase of deconfinement on May 11, a new stage will open on June 2 for three weeks, with new measures which will depend the level of the epidemic.

"I meet the French at the end of May to assess the conditions in which we will organize a new phase of deconfinement, and will in particular take decisions on the organization of cafes, restaurants, holidays", a explained the Prime Minister, after having notably announced the limitation of travel between departments.

A first careful deconfinement

But this second phase could be postponed, if the first stage is itself postponed: "If the indicators are not there, we will not deconfinate on May 11" or then "more strictly", Édouard Philippe warned. The health situation will be studied locally, department by department, differentiated into "green" or "red" according to the severity of the epidemic in these territories.

"We will have to live with the virus" warned Edouard Philippe at the National Assembly, in front of a sparse hemicycle, social distancing requires. He ruled out any immediate return to the world before, after six weeks of severe restrictions.
