UK: Boris Johnson calls for continued containment

Returning to command after three weeks of absence Boris Johnson called on the British to continue to observe the containment. Speaking in front of Downing street during his first speech since his recovery from the coronavirus, the Prime Minister explained that the curve of the coronavirus epidemic "is beginning to reverse" in the United Kingdom but urges the population not to relax containment measures to avoid a resurgence of the disease.

A month after being tested positive for Covid-19 and two weeks after he left hospital, the Prime Minister spoke outside the official residence of heads of government, 10 Downing Street, on Monday morning.

“  If this virus were an assailant of flesh and blood, an unexpected and invisible aggressor - what it is, I speak from experience - we are in the process of taking the upper hand together. But it is also the moment of maximum risk because I know that many people will wonder if it is not time to release the containment. ”

I know it is hard, added the Prime Minister, but its objective is to revive the economic machine  " as quickly as possible  " or the efforts made by the British confined would risk being nullified . “I refuse to spoil all the efforts and sacrifices of the British and take the risk of a second major wave. I therefore ask you to contain your impatience because I think that we are now reaching the end of the first phase of this conflict and despite all these sufferings we have almost overcome . "

His hospitalization had complicated the task of the executive criticized for managing the health crisis in the United Kingdom.
