Despite requests not to gather in large groups so as not to risk the spread of coronary infection, young people and students in Linköping defy all rules, the municipality's officials believe.
- I don't know how to take action to make them understand. They gather in huge groups in our parks just as if nothing has happened. They only deal with large areas for their partying even though the situation with the corona is so serious, says municipal council Muharrem Demirok (C)
"Plowing up the Garden Association"One of the major gathering points is the Garden Association, the large park in central Linköping.
- It is young people, high school students and even students from the university who fill the parks. If we continue to do this, we must plow up the Garden Association. It seems they are starving for social stimulation after schools are closed, says Muharrem Demirok (C).
Now the municipal management is looking at different opportunities to curb the collections.
- One way could be to introduce a temporary local alcohol ban. However, we have no mandate to take alcohol from the youth, that is the job of the police. Unfortunately, we see no improvement in these problems, on the contrary. The closer the end of the term comes and the warmer the weather the bigger the problems will be, says the municipal council in Linköping, Muharrem Demirok (C)
