Mahdi al-Saadi-Maysan

Umm Wissam (70 years old) - who is from the city of Amara, the center of Maysan province in southern Iraq - gave her small house after its construction was recently completed to a Quranic party, to be a school where the city's students learn and memorize the Book of God.

Umm Wessam's position comes despite her limited financial conditions, and despite what the country is going through - like other countries in the world - the Corona pandemic, which poses difficult economic challenges for Iraq and the Iraqis.

In recent weeks, her son Wissam, 40, worked on the latest "finishes" for his mother's house, before handing him over to a Quranic link in Amara.

And Umm Wissam’s mother decided to build a small house on the only plot of land she owned after purchasing it in the annual installment system, and she paid for it over the years of her pension left by her late husband. After the house was completed, she decided to donate it to be a Quranic school in one of the city’s neighborhoods, For the sake of Allah.

The difficult living conditions of Umm Wissam, who lives with her son Wissam and his family of seven in a small house that contains two rooms and a hall, did not prevent her from making the decision to donate to the new house, and the rest of her family supported her in her position.

The tempting offers that were offered to her in exchange for selling her house and the surrounding land did not deter her from intending to donate it as an asset in the hereafter.

The idea arose when the mother or decoration was needed after her son conveyed to her a case of a Quranic bond that suffers from distress in the place she takes in a mosque to teach and memorize the Qur’an, to initiate her decision, and when she was asked to think carefully, she insisted on her position.

Quranic Links
The head of the Quranic Association in Maysan welcomed Sajjad Mansour, the step taken by Umm Wissam, indicating that most of the institutions and Quranic links scattered in Maysan governorate - which have more than 20 associations, a Quranic house and an institution - that take their headquarters in mosques in a place that is usually narrow and does not accommodate Only a limited number.

He added that if a house is dedicated to this great work, this will allow greater numbers to join it, and here the role of donors, philanthropists and philanthropists is highlighted.

Mansour continues by saying that the Qur'anic conservative ties have presented - despite the simplicity of their capabilities and lack of support - many achievements, most notably: one of its readers, Hashem Al-Jazaery, won the first place internationally in reciting the Noble Qur’an in 2010, in the International Quranic India Competition.

The Qur'anic gathering in Maysan was not only limited to organizing lessons, but also to national competitions. Mansour explains that the Quranic assembly in Maysan is accustomed to receiving delegations of the Iraqi Qur'anic provinces annually, in the national competition for recitation and interpretation of the Holy Quran, with the active participation of the people of the province.

For his part, Saleh Khalaf Al-Duraie, the Secretary-General of the Union of Quranic Associations and Communities in Iraq, said, "All of the Union's 280 associations and institutions distributed throughout most of the Iraqi provinces are working with self-efforts."

He adds that the Federation holds five national competitions annually, in addition to the international festivals that participate in its activities more than 20 Islamic countries, pointing out that all the institutions affiliated under the Federation operate with self-financing and donations of philanthropists.
