"Currently, we are optimistic about the possibility of organizing a season from July to November," said Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna, the promoter of MotoGP, in an interview with the TV channel BT Sport.

"The most optimistic is to try to start at the end of July" in Europe, he explains in this interview posted on MotoGP social networks on Monday, adding that he takes into account two factors: the agreement of the countries to organize Great prices and the possibility of traveling in the context of the new coronavirus pandemic.

There is also the option, he specifies, of "starting the championship in September" and that, "the most difficult", of "playing the whole championship at the end of the year".

The leader also believes that "the most likely scenario is that it is without spectators", "the most important (being) to organize races and broadcast them on television".

Ezpeleta also plans to organize "two consecutive events on the same circuit before moving to another".

The different categories of the motorcycle speed world championship (MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE) could, according to him, continue to race during the same events but by limiting the number of people present.

"We are working with the teams to establish a maximum number of people on the paddock, around 1,300, in order to be able to control and test exhaustively," he said.

The first eight rounds of the 2020 season have been canceled (Qatar in the MotoGP category only) or postponed to a specific date (Thailand, Americas, Argentina) or not (Spain, France, Italy, Catalonia).

The next three (Germany on June 21, Netherlands on June 28 and Finland on July 12) are expected to face a similar fate due to the bans on assemblies decided by these countries.

A communication about the schedule is expected in the coming days, AFP sources close to the talks said.
