April 27, 2020 Pharmacies that have purchased masks and protective devices at a price above 50 cents will be guaranteed "refreshment and guaranteed additional supplies such as to bring back the expenses incurred, for each individual mask, below the maximum price decided by the government" .

This is what is foreseen in an agreement signed by the extraordinary commissioner Domenico Arcuri with the Order of Pharmacists, Federfarma and Assofarm. All Italian pharmacies and parapharmacies "will be put in condition by the commissioner Arcuri - underlines a note from the commissioner 's offices - to sell surgical masks to all citizens at the maximum price of € 0.50 net of VAT".

Furthermore, a further agreement will be signed shortly which will allow the associations of pharmacists to negotiate, together with the commissioner, the acquisition of important quantities of masks at a price lower than the maximum price established by the ordinance.

"We concretely guarantee the right to health of all citizens - concludes Arcuri - the possibility of purchasing the masks at a fair price, blocking any form of speculation, the pharmacists who have carried out with a spirit of service and sacrifices have not been harmed and will continue to play an important role in managing the epidemic. "

Price too low
The governor of Veneto, Luca Zaia is not in agreement with the price settled: "If you say that 50 cents is the fixed price of a mask, all national production disappears," said Zaia. "50 cents - he added - is the production price of the masks in Italy. We have bought surgical masks made in Veneto to balance the market, and the price was one euro. We need to give help to national companies to stay on the market", he concluded.

In line with Zaia also Confcommercio , whose vice president states: "With current market dynamics the maximum price of 50 cents is a figure that is neither in heaven nor on earth". Donatella Prampolini, goes on the attack on the figure indicated by the government for the sale of the masks, underlining that the companies are in charge of the masks at a higher price and asks to review it bringing it at least to 60 cents. "Otherwise - he says - the immediate effect will be that we will stop importing them. Meanwhile, many companies have blocked sales and orders".
