The Libyan National Army Commander, Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter announced, on Monday evening, that the General Command of the Armed Forces accepted the people's mandate to run the country and drop the Skhirat Agreement.

Field Marshal Hifter said, in a televised speech, "We are proud of the mandate of the Libyans for the general leadership of this historic mission in these exceptional circumstances, to stop the work of the political agreement so that it becomes part of the past by a decision of the Libyan people the source of the authorities ... We announce the response of the General Command to the will of the people."

Field Marshal Hifter affirmed that the general leadership will be "subject to the people's signal, and will work to the best of its ability to end the suffering of it, and that the service of the citizen, the protection of his rights, the fulfillment of his aspirations, and the harnessing of capabilities for his benefit will be at the forefront of priorities, and create conditions for building permanent civil state institutions according to the will of the people and their aspirations, while continuing the liberation process Until its end. ”

Khafter had asked in a speech last Thursday for the Libyans to go out and drop the political agreement, and choose the party they see suitable for the leadership of the stage, adding that “the armed forces will be a guarantor to protect their choices.”

It is noteworthy that the political agreement was reached in the Moroccan city of Skhirat in 2015 under the auspices of the United Nations and included the parties to the conflict in Libya, to end the second Libyan civil war that broke out in 2014.
