The decision, likely, a final cessation of the current Belgian football championship, which was to take place on Monday, has been postponed to May 4, announced the general assembly of the Pro League.

The Pro League Football Board of Directors has recommended a permanent cessation of competitions, but this opinion has yet to be approved at a general meeting.

The professional championships (D1A and D1B) as well as the Belgian Cup have been stopped since mid-March because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Pro League (association of clubs) and the Belgian Federation first want to know the position of the National Security Council before deciding on the final end of the 2019-2020 season. It was held last Friday but no action has been taken regarding sports competitions.

A recovery seems however impossible, the Belgian government having prohibited all mass demonstrations until August 31, however a match even in camera would mobilize at least 400 people, according to the Belgian Federation.
