Coronavirus death, Nigerian doctor Alfa Saadu gave his life at the English hospital

In Great Britain, several doctors of North African or sub-Saharan origin have been victims of the epidemic. Doctor Alfa Saadu is one of the first to die in this battle against the virus. He was a living legend in the United Kingdom and Nigeria, where he was from.

Doctor Alfa Saadu was 68 years old. He retired in 2017 but continued to teach and give consultations. Very aware of the danger, he volunteered to strengthen the medical teams fighting against the coronavirus . A virus that won in less than two weeks.

He therefore sacrificed his life for the NHS , the British health service, in which he worked for 40 years. A geriatrician, he practiced in many hospitals before ending his career as medical director of Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Knowledge sharing

He loved sharing his knowledge with students in Britain and Africa but, according to his son, his passion was to save lives. He was angry when he heard Prime Minister Boris Johnson tell the British to prepare to lose people they loved.

It was not a thing to say on TV for Doctor Alfa Saadu who leaves a woman, a doctor too, and two sons. He was attached to the traditions of Nigeria where a tribute was paid to him.
