SVT News Örebro has previously reported that Örebro County Museum is forced to notify staff. According to Birgitta Johansen, three of the museum's approximately 24 posts are affected by the notification.

However, it is currently unclear whether staff will need to be terminated and negotiations with unions will be conducted in two weeks.

Demand ceased

The reason for the labor shortage is that the demand for museum displays from, for example, schools and companies ceased in connection with the pandemic.

But the economic situation was strained even before. Birgitta Johansen states that the appropriations received by the museum in recent years have not been included in the general price and wage increase in society.

- Overall, in 2018 and 2019 we are already around half a million back, she says.

Pointed out the problems

According to her, most of the country's county museums have the same problem because some of the money that funds their activities is stale and the county museums have pointed out the problems to the government.

- The state has not listed its allocation more than one percent in the last ten years. The government has appointed an inquiry now to look at the county museums' situation, says Birgitta Johansen.
