Jesper Persson is co-owner of Taxi Allians in Kristianstad with seven cars and 15 employees, as well as moderate leisure politicians. He says the runs disappeared overnight.

- It was like pulling the plug out. We got e-mail on e-mail with cancellations, he says.

Now the majority of the staff are laid off.

- We have a lot of business runs but everything is gone on the flight and pretty much everything on the train. We have lost 70-80 percent of the runs.

Want emergency directed action

The taxi industry has been hit hard by the corona crisis. This is the opinion of the Swedish Taxi Association, which conducted a survey among its 741 member companies.

"It is awful and extremely difficult for taxi companies because society has basically closed down," says Associate Director Claudio Skubla.

According to the survey, seven out of ten companies have lost more than 60 percent of their revenue and half say they have serious liquidity problems. Seven out of ten respond that they do not survive the month of May.

The companies also state in the survey that the government's support packages are difficult to access and want more targeted measures against the taxi industry.

- We need money now to save the industry, says Claudio Skubla, who has written a petition to the government on emergency measures.

"Important to keep taxi industry"

Minister of Infrastructure Tomas Eneroth (S) refers to the support available.

- We are trying to determine which support measures are the most important, because it is clear that it is important that we can have a serious taxi industry also post corona.

He says that the government must also be careful about the resources and that they are used properly.

- That is why we set up the company cut and you can use short-term permits and last year's tax. It will save many jobs and companies.
