At the vast majority of healthcare institutions, the pressure is hard right now. Caring for the elderly and the sick in the middle of the corona crisis delays. Therefore, more people who can work with care and care are needed. Linköping is currently undergoing rapid training of new staff.

- They will make it easier for the other health care staff, says one of the three care teachers involved, Annika Lindhe Petersson.

The fast-trained staff should not work with purely medical tasks but, for example, help with cleaning, walking and helping with meals. At present, ordinary staff do not always have the opportunity to do so.

The so-called fast track is an initiative from the municipality and, more specifically, the crisis staff of the social and care administration.

The course is only three days long and includes, among other things, education about treatment, spread of infection and about different people they may meet in reality.

- They should not stand by themselves, but they should stand next to some experienced staff if they do caring tasks of a simpler kind, says Ann Lindhe Petersson.

500 people applied for the 100 places. Some have previously worked in healthcare, while others come from completely different industries.

All three teachers testify to a willingness to set up, both among those who applied for the quick training and the teachers themselves. At the same time as they are educating, teachers try to attract further studies in care and care.
