April 26, 2020 Even sport starts again after the health emergency. The new government decree on the pandemic caused by Covid-19 gives the go-ahead for the resumption of individual training starting from May 4th. "To allow a gradual resumption of sporting activities - explained the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte - training sessions for athletes, professionals and non-professionals recognized by CONI and federations of national interest will be allowed from 4 May, but only in compliance with the rules of social distancing, avoiding gatherings. So training behind closed doors for individual disciplines ". Excellent news for all individual sports athletes. For team training, however, you will have to wait two weeks longer: "Our program provides for the go-ahead for team training from 18 May", explained Conte in the press conference convened to explain the measures contained in the new decree.

So what will happen to Italian football, the only team sport that has not declared the 2019/2020 season over? The Football Association, as it is known, would like to complete the championships and for this reason, in compliance with the Uefa indications, it has already decided to extend the season until August 2, also presenting to the Government the protocol drawn up by its medical-scientific commission to make restart your workouts safely.

A very rigid and particularly expensive protocol for companies, which should take care of health checks and also the costs for the maxi-withdrawal of at least two weeks, necessary measures to minimize the risk of new infections. For this reason, the application of the protocol seems currently only possible for the Serie A teams, who are also waiting for clarifications on some unresolved doubts of a medical (what happens if there is a new infection in the team group?) And legal (which are the responsibilities of social doctors?).

The government's decision to allow only individual trainings from 4 May raises another doubt: on paper the clubs could gather their players and carry out personalized sessions, waiting for the green light to the collective activity scheduled for 18 May. But some clubs wonder about the opportunity to restart a complex and expensive car without the guarantee of being able to really resume and end the championship. "Minister Spadafora - explained Conte - will work intensely with the experts of the scientific technical committee and with all the components of the football system to find a path that has already been defined in part for the resumption of individual training from 4 May and the resumption of the 'team activity from 18. Later we will evaluate if there are the conditions to allow the conclusion of the championships ".

So doubts remain, even if the time factor leaves even more hope to the world of Italian football: to conclude Serie A by August 2nd, in fact, it would be enough to play the first official games in mid-June.
