“For the first time in world history, Russian paratroopers as part of a combined unit made high-altitude landing from Il-76 aircraft from a height of 10 thousand meters in extreme conditions of the Arctic in the area of Franz Joseph Land archipelago,” RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that high-altitude landing equipment was used, including new-generation special-purpose parachute systems, individual oxygen parachutist equipment, navigation equipment, special equipment and uniforms in extreme Arctic conditions.
Earlier it was reported that members of the marine corps and coastal defense of the Black Sea Fleet parachuted during a training camp on airborne training.
