April 26, 2020Director Claudio Risi, son of Dino and older brother of Marco, died in a Roman hospital this morning.

Claudio Risi was 71 years old and died of complications following a heart attack that hit him about two months ago. The family broke the news.


He started working in 1972 as assistant director of Mario Monicelli. Then his father Dino 
Claudio Risi was born on November 12, 1948 in Bern. He started working in 1972 as assistant director of Mario Monicelli in 'We want the colonels' and Carlo Di Palma in' Teresa la ladra 'and, from 1974 to 1984, of his father in a dozen films, starting with' Profumo di donna 'up to' Dagobert '. For Dino Risi he had also made the editor in 'Il commissario Lo Gatto' (1986), while for his brother in 'Tre mogli' (2001).

Director's debut in the mid-80s
He had made his directorial debut in the mid-eighties with works of a seaside setting such as 'Windsurfing - The wind in his hands' and the television 'Yesterday - Vacanze al mare'. He later directed the three seasons of the television series 'I bambini della 3ª C', which earned him the Telegatto for the best Italian TV series twice (in 1987 and 1988). In 2005 he signed with his father the direction of the documentary Rudolf Nureyev at the Scala (intended for Home video), to then direct the pre-Christmas cinepanettoni 'Marriage in the Bahamas' (2007) and 'Marriage in Paris' (2011), both with Massimo Boldi protagonist.

The funeral will not be there, given the rules on coronavirus, but - according to AdnKronos - the family expects to be able to make a public commemoration as soon as possible.
