The alarm came at 02.03 during the night towards Sunday. A passenger car had then collided frontally with a line bus on County Road 845 between Tångaberg and Åskloster in Varberg Municipality.

Three people were traveling in the passenger car. Two of them are seriously injured, according to police. The third coped with minor injuries. They have been taken by ambulance to hospital. They are all described as young. The driver was under 20 years, according to police.

Four people, including the driver, were traveling on the bus, according to the rescue service. They managed undamaged.

It is unclear how the accident happened.

"We do not have a clear picture yet, but it seems that the passenger car has come over on the wrong side of the road and then crashed with the bus," says Göran Carlbom, police officer in the West Region.

"The bus driver must have seen the passenger car and it stood more or less still," he says.

The road was still closed at 4 o'clock at night, waiting for salvage. It was only at 04.30 that the work at the accident site was completed.

The police have launched a preliminary investigation into carelessness in traffic. Both the car and the bus have been seized for technical examination.
