Malagasy civil society is alarmed by the return to class of students in the midst of a pandemic

Several civil society organizations have issued press releases over the past two days to voice their concerns. They regret the excess of political communication to the detriment of the word of medical experts, in particular concerning the remedy developed in the country, the Covid-Organics supposed to prevent and cure coronavirus. They are also alarmed by the return to school of a part of the pupils when their safety cannot be completely guaranteed.

The civil society organization KMF / CNOE which works for the education of the citizens asks not to force the pupils to drink Covid-Organics , the decoction supposed to fight against the coronavirus, and to stop all political or economic calculation.

The way to force children to consume Covid-Organics is contradictory to the provision of the Constitution," says Andoniaina Andriamalazaray, president of KMF / CNOE. It would be better if medical professionals and health workers speak out more than politicians.  "

A dozen civil society organizations also denounced the return of children to class and asked for a postponement of the lessons. Graduates and third graders returned to school on Wednesday. A danger, explains Hanta Ratiarison, member of the ROHY platform and principal of a private high school on the outskirts of the capital.

The measures are not yet respected because only a few public schools have received disinfectant and above all the mouthpieces do not follow the standards. These are simple fabrics. In the classrooms, the pupils respect the distance of one meter, but in the course they chat and approach each other. There are a lot of risks. Now is not the time to go back to school  , ”he explains.

Grade 7 students must return to class on Monday. The Big Island counts 123 cases according to the figures transmitted by the authorities.
