The account of the prisoners of conscience said that the body of the Saudi human rights activist Abdullah Al-Hamid Wauri Al-Thara in the Al-Qusaia cemetery in Buraidah on Friday afternoon, while the UN Special Rapporteur, Anis Kalamar, described his death as sad.

The account described al-Hamid's death as a deliberate assassination by the Saudi authorities, after prison authorities left him for hours in a coma before being transferred to the hospital.

In this regard, Kalamar said that the death of Saudi political detainee Abdullah Al-Hamid in prison on the first day of Ramadan is very sad.

She added in a tweet on Twitter, that the UN had previously called on the Saudi authorities to release political detainees, after the outbreak of the Coruna virus.

Al-Hamid died in prison in Saudi Arabia as a result of medical negligence, after suffering a stroke, according to the prisoners of conscience.

For its part, Human Rights Watch said that with al-Hamid's death in his prison, the scientist lost one of the leaders of the human rights movement in Saudi Arabia.

The organization confirmed that Al-Hamed's spending his last years in prison for criticizing the violations in Saudi Arabia is an immoral act.

It is noteworthy that the Saudi authorities arrested Dr. Abdullah Al-Hamid, one of the founders of the reform project “Decision” in the Kingdom, in March 2013, and sentenced him to 11 years in prison, without explaining the reasons for the ruling.
