The Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the concerned authorities in the UAE have announced that laboratory tests in the country have crossed the one million mark, in addition to conducting 58 Emirati studies to understand «Covid 19» and prepare for similar epidemics.

This came during a regular media briefing held by the Emirates government in Abu Dhabi yesterday, to get an update on the latest developments and cases related to the new Corona virus in the country.

In detail, the Minister of Health and Community Protection, Abd al-Rahman bin Muhammad al-Owais said: “We conducted a million, 22,326 tests, as part of our national plan to increase the tests for the emerging corona virus (COFED 19), which will continue on a daily basis at the state level.”

He added, "Tests are available to citizens and residents through more than 14 testing centers from the vehicle, in addition to hospitals and health centers, in addition to providing inspection services for people of determination in their homes."

Al-Owais stressed: "The more we increase the number of tests, we will be early in reaching the cases, and therefore our containment of the spread of the virus is greater, as well as increasing and intensifying tests that help us to be proactive, especially with cases of contacts, in addition to cases that do not show any symptoms."

Al-Owais said: "It is natural that the increase in screening operations is accompanied by an increase in the number of new cases infected with the virus. We assure the public that this increase is expected and is evidence that we are on the right path to limit the spread of the virus."

The official spokesman for the Emirates government, Dr. Amna Al-Dahhak Al-Shamsi, announced that the number of healing cases in the country has increased to 1887, after 127 new cases of healing were recorded for people with the emerging coronavirus and recovering fully from symptoms of the disease and receiving the necessary health care.

She explained that «the average daily cases of recovery during the past two weeks amount to 100 cases per day, and the rate of recovery is approximately 20% of the total injuries».

She also stated that «the plan to expand the scope of examinations is continuing, and has contributed to the detection of 532 new cases of the virus (Covid-19) from different nationalities, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 9813, while the number of cases that are still receiving treatment is 7855 A case of different nationalities.

She announced seven deaths from different nationalities, bringing the number of deaths registered in the country to 71, while she offered sincere condolences and condolences to those of the deceased and their families, and her wishes of patience and solace.

Al-Shamsi stressed during the briefing that "the decision to partially reduce it, which was announced recently, does not mean that things have fully returned to normal, as the application of preventive and precautionary measures remains valid and mandatory for everyone, especially commitment to social and physical distance and wearing masks."

It also announced that the health sector in the UAE represented by the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the health authorities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi launched the “Digital Fortress Application”, which enables the competent health authorities to quickly identify people who are at risk of transmission of the Covid-19 virus infection, to communicate with them and conduct tests for them .

She explained that the application provides a service that shows the extent of commitment of the people demanding the home stone to the instructions for the stone, to protect them and protect society, and each user of the application will have a quick QR code of his own that is evidence of his health condition, which enables him to reach public places with more reassurance, and interact with Others are safe and comfortable.

For his part, the spokesman for the advanced science sector in the country, Dr. Alwi Sheikh Ali, confirmed that the UAE is working on more than 58 studies that can be classified in a number of fields.

He stated that the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences recently announced the registration of the first sequence of the corona virus genes emerging in the UAE, and the importance of this study lies in the knowledge of the different strains of the virus present in the country, where the research team is working to record the genome sequence of viral samples from 240 patients with covid- 19 of different age groups, and different time periods of infection, which will help to understand the type of virus strains and how they are transmitted around the world, in addition to the severity of the symptoms of the disease in each strain.

Alwi reported that researchers from Khalifa University have completed the development of a prototype of an artificial respirator for emergencies designed with low-cost materials, easily accessible and using 3D printing technology, to meet the growing global demand for artificial respirators due to the spread of Covid-19 disease.
