The occupation authorities confirmed the discovery of a coronavirus infection with a Palestinian youth arrested on Wednesday, while sources reported progress in contacts to conclude a prisoner-exchange deal between the Tel Aviv and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

On Friday, the Israeli Prison Authority said that a Coronavirus infection was discovered by a Palestinian youth, one day after his arrest. Investigators and the guards who had contact with him were removed.

And the Hebrew media indicated that the young man was transferred to Hajar, inside Al-Maskoubia prison, even though he was alone in a cell for two days.

Al-Dameer Association for the Care of Prisoners and Human Rights stated that the 21-year-old was from the village of Deir Sudan in Ramallah, and that he had been subjected to an investigation at the Mesopotamia investigation center in occupied Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, the Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that senior officials assured her of progress in contacts to conclude a deal to exchange prisoners and missing persons with Hamas, despite the existence of major differences between the two sides.

According to the newspaper, the talks are continuing to crystallize a plan for an exchange deal that includes providing extensive assistance to the Gaza Strip.

Maariv quoted the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar that Egypt had released detainees from Gaza who were being held as part of the progress made in completing the deal.

According to official Palestinian data, there are about five thousand Palestinian detainees in the occupation prisons, Tel Aviv has rejected the demand for their release since the emergence of the Corona crisis.
