Confinement requires, Virginie Phulpin abandons sport in her editorial to take an interest in the life of the French during this epidemic of coronavirus. Friday, she returned to the Kantar-Europe poll1 which deciphers the new passions of the French in time of confinement. Not surprisingly, the kitchen comes out on top.

The weekend is coming, and many of us have discovered new occupations for our free time in confinement. And you, you think we should take advantage of boredom.

At the start, we all had the anxiety of emptiness. We're so used to being caught up in the whirlwind of life. When it suddenly stops, it's a dizzying feeling. We find ourselves there, at home, in front of an entire weekend with absolutely nothing planned. So we sit on our couch and we gamberge.

Ah, boredom, we see it as our main enemy in this period of confinement. What if we decided to take advantage of it, to make it our ally? There are people who choose to go on a retreat in an isolated place for their holidays. Okay, so here, okay, we don't choose the place, it's home. But we can take the opportunity to make a kind of inner retreat, right?

Take the time to do nothing. How many times, in the midst of our busy schedules, have we dreamed of being able to take a break? Finally, if we can, right. Because if you are teleworking with three children at home, or if you work in the hospital, or in a supermarket, we would love to have time to get bored, but that is not possible. So yes, what I'm planning this weekend is to stop for a while and let boredom take over.

In addition we become more creative with boredom.

Look on social media. We sing, we dance, we invent sports routes, we paint, we cook. We even cook a lot. Kantar Profiles asked its respondents what new passion they had discovered with this containment, and 38% of them answered the kitchen. And it is boredom that drives us to seek alternatives. We don't know what to do, so we think, let our mind wander, and try new things.

There may be certain hobbies found during this confinement that will accompany us all of our lives afterwards. Ultimately, our brain may be working more than ever, right now. He leaves his comfort zone, unlike our body which does not move. Let's take advantage of all of this before meeting again.
