Xinhua News Agency, United Nations, April 24 (Reporter Shang Xuqian) United Nations Secretary General Guterres delivered a speech on the 24th in a video conference on the International Cooperation Initiative to Accelerate the Development, Production and Distribution of New Coronary Pneumonia Vaccines and Diagnostic Tools, Emphasizing New Coronary Pneumonia Vaccines and diagnostic tools should be available to everyone.

Guterres said that the development and production of related tools should not only be for one country, one place or some people, but should be for all people in the world. The tools should be affordable, safe, effective, and easy to use.

He said that the new coronary pneumonia vaccine and diagnostic tools should become a model for global public goods. For a long time, global public goods have not received enough attention and investment. The important lesson from the new crown pandemic is that the level of support for global public goods and medical universal coverage is not enough.

Guterres said that eliminating the threat of new coronary pneumonia on a global scale requires unprecedented public health forces. Countries must share data, strengthen production capacity, mobilize resources, promote community participation and put aside political differences. He said that in today's connected world, no one can be alone in the face of the new crown virus.

The International Cooperation Initiative on New Coronary Pneumonia Vaccines and Diagnostic Tools is initiated by the World Health Organization. It will bring together multiple organizations, the public and private sectors, and carry out research and development and production at a faster speed and on a larger scale. In addition to Guterres, French President Macron and European Commission President Von Delaine attended the video conference and delivered speeches.
